Puppy Boarding

posted in Puppy News |

PlinkoWe just finalized last minute plans to go to California for Thanksgiving.  We had been wanting to do this, but the flights were unavailable.  Must be a lot of trip cancellations or something because over the weekend we were able to find flights using my husband’s frequent flyer miles.  So, on Monday, the flights were booked.  That left me with less than 2 wees to find a kennel where Plinko could be boarded while we were gone.  We’ve never left her before, and she is truly pampered, can you tell?

So, I asked a friend and she gave me information on a wonderful pampered pooch kennel not too far from us.  I called them this morning and, to my amazement, they had availability over Thanksgiving!  I was so excited!  I made Plinko’s reservation immediately.

This kennel has dog “suites”, not cages.  Each suite has a bed and tiled floor.  During the day, the dogs are in playrooms, sectioned off according to their personality.  Each playroom has indoor/outdoor access and lots of toys.  They also have webcams so we’ll be able to log on and see our baby!

They’re a little pricey, but the price includes the food, play time (most of the day) and all the treats, including a treat filled kong at night.  These are all extras at other kennels, so really, by the time I add it all up, it’s not so bad.  I’m just relieved that I got her in and know she’ll be well cared for while we’re gone.

Plinko is going to love it! Our dog goes to a similar kennel and he gets so excited when we pull in the parking lot.

Corrin - I think it’s a great place, I’m just nervous because it will be our first time to leave Plinko and she really hasn’t been around other dogs too much. I know she’ll be fine though, it’s just me worrying! :-D

Awwwww … Plinko looks so lovable and cuddly!

If I had known, I could have referred you to a wonderful pet sitter so that Plinko could have stayed in the comfort of her own home.

    Have a great trip!

I always have my dad fly out halfway across the country to babysit our furbabies because I can’t bear the thought of having to put our dog Sadie in a kennel. I sure wish we had an option like the one you described - I believe I could rest easy knowing she was in a place like that. Being able to log on to check on them would be wonderful! I’m sure Plinko is going to have a great time!

Thanks Hilary! I thought about a pet sitter, but Plinko stays in her crate unless we’re home so I’d need a house sitter too, somebody to stay with her most of the time. She’s a bit spoiled!

I wish we had someone to come out and watch our puppy! If I did, I’d probably do what you do and have them come out, to house/pet sit! I was so afraid I was going to have to take Plinko to a kennel where she’d spend all day in a cage. I’m very happy to have found this place, even if they are expensive.

In 2000 I had to take a business trip to NY and I took Bailey to a place in Dallas called Dee’s Doggie Den. I checked it out first and while I visited the place I laughed and laughed because it was just like a daycare for kids except it was for dogs. When I dropped him off the day before I left for my trip he got so excited. They did warn me though that after I returned from my trip, picked him up and took him back home that he might be a bit depressed because he had been around all those dogs for 5 days and then come home to no dogs. He did very well while in the day care and they said he was a good dog. But once I got him home he did get a bit sad for several days. But then he snapped out out of it.

Heidi - She is definitely one spoiled little dog! California will be a nice break and we’ll get to see our grand-baby, so we’re all excited about the trip. :-D

Ellen - I have a feeling that is exactly what’s going to happen with Plinko! This place is in Plano and is also a doggie daycare facility. They have playrooms that the dogs spend the day in, even if they’re boarding overnight. They get high quality food (even canned) and treats before bedtime. She may not want to come home when we get back!

Anytime you need a puppy-sitter let me know. I know it costs and arm and a leg to leave our babies at those kennels. There is a really awesome one right by our house that will read your dog a story (not kidding) and let him/her sleep in a real bed. haha

Hope you have fun in Cali! We plan on going in January and are super excited :)

Laurie - Thanks! I never thought I’d have a dog as spoiled as this one, but I admit, I’m the major spoiler! I’d love to know the name of the place by you, I’d like to compare them to this place in Plano.

    Lynne,

It’s called Every Dog’s Day. It is off of Preston and Main. Here is the website: http://everydogsday.net/

I hope Plinko enjoys the visit to the Plano “spa” during Thanksgiving! :)
