I’m pretty proud of my latest project. Not only did I complete this in a timely fashion, but I created it entirely from leftover fabrics and scraps that I all ready had in my stash. You see, after finishing my Countdown to Christmas, I had fabric remaining that I wanted to use, so I found this cute wall hanging to make. The quilt block itself is pretty simple, it’s the applique that takes quite a bit of time. There were quite a few pieces to cut draw, cut out and assemble. Once the pieces were all ironed onto the block, I had to do a blanket stitch (on my machine) around each and every piece. Then it came down to completing the block, attaching the backing, batting and loops and then quilting it, which I also did on my machine.
This is my latest completed project, a Partridge in a Pear Tree.

It’s really amazing to me how something as simple and useful as a door can make a difference to the look of a home. If you’re attempting to sell a home in this economy, every little detail is important. Think about your front door, what type of 1st impression does it make?
When we purchased our last home, it had the most boring metal door and it was painted a primer gray. After moving in, the first thing I did was to paint that door and add a metal kick plate to the bottom. It really was amazing what a difference it made and how much nicer it looked. Eventually I would have like to have completely changed out the door and installed something with a leaded glass insert. I could’ve used the Online Door Designer at the Masonite website to get exactly the door that I would’ve wanted.
The online tool is so easy to use for designing either exterior or interior doors. Soon they’ll be adding patio doors and I know I’ll be using it then. They have so many doors to choose from including my new favorite for my daughter’s bedroom, the Chalkboard Interior Door. This door has an actual chalkboard attached and my daughter would love that! What’s really cool is that I can even upload a photo of my own house to their website and be able to see exactly how a particular door will look before I buy it.
So, if you’re thinking about installing new doors in your home, check out the Masonite site first and use their new door design tool.
