Need to Plan a Trip

Need to Plan a Trip

So my daughter finished her last day of school yesterday and now is off for the next 2 full weeks. My husband came home from work Thursday night and informed me that the company he works for decided to have everyone take this coming week off, and I was laid off in October, so I’m home too. What are we going to do? We have absolutely no plans and plenty of time. We don’t have a lot of money as we’ve really tightened our budget this year, but it would sure be nice to do something together besides sit at home. I think that Vacations To Go is the perfect place for me to check and find something exciting and spontaneous for us to do next week at up to a 75% savings.

I’m going to check out some special last minute deals at Vacations To Go to see if there are any bargain cruises leaving out of Galveston. Perhaps we can get a good rate and it would be a wonderful surprise for my daughter who has never been on a ship as large as a cruise ship. I’m not a big cruise person, I don’t like being out on the water. But, a short cruise would suit me just fine and so, if the 90 Day Ticker tool at  Vacations To Go has anything good to offer right now, we’ll be packing our bags!  Cruises out of Galveston make port calls in Florida and the Bahamas which is someplace I’ve always wanted to visit.  If not the Bahamas, we could go to Jamaica or Cozumel, Mexico.

I’m thinking that if I can’t get something for this coming week, Spring break will be here before we know it and we could just as easily go then.  What about you, have you ever gone on a cruise?

DH and I went on a cruise for our honeymoon almost 15 years ago now. We went on Royal Caribbean. It was fabulous. Something that I really liked was being on the ship and not having to drive anywhere – that was really nice and made things very relaxing. The bad thing is there is so much delicious food, available at all times of the day and night (we never missed the Midnight Buffet – bad!!), you can’t help but put on at least 10lbs.

Thanks! Looks like the ships don’t sail until early 2009, so maybe we’ll stay home for now. :-D

Heidi – I don’t think we can ever have enough vacation time! There’s always someplace else to go and something new to do!

Carole – Every single person I know that has been on a cruise talks about the food and the weight gain! I’ve always heard the food is fabulous and it really must be! :-D
