Amy Poehler and Cosmo TV

I ran across this and I just had to sit and watch. It begins with the funniest Barbie ad I’ve ever seen and continues on with Amy Poehler, an American comedian and actress (Mean Girls and Baby Mama). Amy was also a member of the Saturday Night Live cast for the better part of the last decade. While Amy is known for her humor, in the above video for CozmoTVNetwork, you’ll see a little more serious side of Poehler with a hint of comedy mixed in.

You can see the title, “Smart Girls at the Party”, and I love it. I have a 12 year old who is highly intelligent and yet, sometimes I think she doubts her popularity or her ability to have friends. I love how this show emphasizes the importance of being yourself. In fact, a statement on their website says “girls changing the world by being themselves”, it’s the perfect statement that every adolescent girl needs to hear. In fact, I had this very conversation with my daughter the other day, not only telling her, but emphasizing the same holds true for her friends. They need to like each other for who they are now, not who they think they need to be to impress others. This really is a tough age.

I really believe in what this video has to offer and I have agreed to help spread the word. If you would like to help, you can get your own widget here and put it on your own site. If you are a parent, I’m sure you will agree that this is an important issue for all kids. Watch this video and you’ll see a wonderful young lady who is being true to herself. I am looking forward to future episodes. By the way, this image can also be embedded on your MySpace or Facebook pages.

Training Almost Complete!

I have been somewhat absent from my blogs and my computer because I am in training for my new job.  I trained for 4 weeks back in September and October before being laid off due to the economic times.  I then got called back to complete my training in early January and have been going in to work M-F for the last 3 weeks.

On Tuesday of next week I will actually graduate from my training and will be a full fledged employee.  I will continue to work on site for another 5 days and then will be working from home.  I am so excited that I can barely wait.  This job offers me so much flexibility.  The pay isn’t the best, but it’s not commission and it’s not sales, so I am pretty happy about it.

In the mean time, I am glad to have any and all visitors to my blogs.  Please be patient, I am doing my best to respond to all comments!
