Thank You!

Thank You!

posted in blogging |

I just want to say thank you to all of you who emailed me or contacted me through my sister Karen after noticing my sudden disappearance. Unfortunately, I was just as shocked as you at the fact that my account had been “suspended” by my web host. I will go into those details at a later time. I’m still working on technical issues and attempting to get quite a bit updated and archived. I couldn’t have done any of this without help and I definitely got help!

Rebecca, author of Freaky Frugalite and New York Renovator among others, kindly came to my rescue. She actually had to go in through my c-panel to deactivate plugins and quite a bit more of which I will let her tell you. The best news is that she is planning to write a “how to” post for all of us to learn what to do when this type of situation happens. Trust me, I will be keeping a copy of her instructions close at hand for future reference. While I hope my account is never again “suspended”, I will always need to know how to keep things updated and current to keep my site running smoothly.

Needless to say, I have learned how important it is to keep things current, particularly plug ins, and to not overload a blog with code that can bog down a web host’s server. As you can see, I’ve removed quite a bit from my side bars and what you can’t see is all of the plug in and database updates that are going on behind the scenes. I am also looking for a new theme, something that will allow my blog to load more quickly and smoothly.

The last week has been extremely frustrating for me as a blogger, at one point I almost called it quits. I just never realized how much stress I was feeling because of this and I didn’t feel up to dealing with the web host, it was too exhausting. I want to say a big, loud, ginormous THANK YOU to Rebecca, I would not be here posting tonight if it were not for her.

I still have comments to return and EC to drop, although, I’m not quite ready to get back to all of that yet.  I do still have a couple of sewing projects that I’m working on completing in the next few days and then hope to get back to my blog recovery.  In the mean time, thanks again to all of you!

I am glad that you were able to work things out. I was wondering what had happened to you. Congrats on getting it all worked out. I hope it doesn’t happen again to you.

That was really nice of her! It is so frustrating dealing with hosting issues…I tried to have my own ’stand alone’ site, but after a few weeks, I just said to heck with it and started another free blogspot blog instead. It’s just not for me, or at least not now, with so many other things for me to do.

I am glad you got it all worked out!

I’m glad you’re back too. Please just take your time. I am feeling very stressed too. I am going to figure something out my self to get some free time for this weekend just to rest.

Rebecca is a very sweet person. I am always amazed at all of the things she is capable of doing.

Have a good rest and come back full time when you’re truly rested and ready.:-))))

glad to see you back. I hear you, it is really important to keep everything updated.I haven’t upgraded my blogs for the longest time until I sought help from my fairy godmother. Since July, my blogs are well maintained, and updated thanks to her. I don’t have the patience working on codes and details myself.

good luck on your search for a new theme.

I’m so glad you got that fixed. I was out of town this past weekend and didn’t get back until Monday night, but I intended to write Karen and ask what happened.

Glad to have you back! I am sorry you had to go through all of that. I am interested to hear why BH would suspend you. I know how frustrating it can be, and I am glad that you had such a wonderful helper.

Wow, glad to hear you got things all sorted out, but what a headache, I’m sure. I’ve never had anything that catastrophic happen, but I’ve messed up my template a few times and that was plenty frustrating enough!

Yeah, Rebecca is super smart with blog stuff and so generous with her time, so helpful – she’s really the tops, she’s helped me a bunch of times too!! We should invent a new award for her! :-) Or how about a badge for our blogs, “Rebecca saved this blog”?? Heh!

I could definitely use that how-to. Two of my blogs are so outdated that the databases are corrupt and they could self-destruct at any time. Is Rebecca for hire? Haha.

    Hi Lynne!
I’ve been out of the loop this past week, so I only got to read your post today…and what you write sends shivers down my back. What a horrible thing to have happened. I’m glad you have such pc-savvy blogging friends, and so glad you got it all worked out! Good to see your blog up and running again!

    happy Sunday,

    Duni

I wondered if you were having hosting problems. I tried several days to read your blog but I kept getting the same message. Since it had happened once before I assumed you were having the same problem. I’ve noticed that blogs that do not have all the extra stuff on the side sure do load quicker and are easier to read. I know all the extras do look “interesting” but if they just cause more problems then it’s really not worth it. Someone once told me that the real fancy screen savers on computer monitors can cause more grief and lots of issues to a computer and it’s better to have just a simple one.

I’m glad you’re not quitting, the blogging world (or at least my little piece of it) wouldn’t be as bright without people like you.
