Finally, Friday!
It’s a good week, ending in a good weekend. My nephew Greg is graduating with his Master’s degree tomorrow, WOW! We’re all so very proud of him.
But, before the weekend begins, I have 7 hours to work today and, then, I can kick of the weekend. I’m going to get a head start with my favorite meme, Four Foods on Friday.
This week’s questions and my answers:
#1. blueyes’ question. What’s your favorite seafood recipe? I love a simple shrimp scampi. Melt butter in a pan, add chopped garlic and a few chopped scallion onions. Add peeled shrimp and cook until done. Serve over any type of noodles.
#2. Italian Ice. Like it, love it or leave it? I like it, but rarely have it.
#3. What’s your favorite crunchy food? (anything – pickles, chips, fruit, etc.) I love to crunch on tortilla chips, extra salt!
#4. Have you ever eaten so much of something that you felt or got sick? Ummm, yes. Years ago, while still in college, I went home to my parent’s house for Thanksgiving. After barely eating (I was a broke college student), I gorged myself on turkey and all the side dishes. I was miserable, and yes, I did end up throwing up! I’ve never allowed myself to eat that much again, i learned my lesson.

This is what happens if I even attempt to lay out fabric on the floor! Guess she thought I was laying it all down there just for her to lay on. If I attempted to relocate the fabric squares to another area of the floor, she’d just relocate herself!

I’ve been racking my brain trying to come up with a nice Mother’s Day gift for my mother-in-law. She lives on her own, 1500 miles away and is on a small fixed income. She doesn’t drive and I don’t want to give her cash as she will just give it away. I am thinking about possibly a restaurant gift certificate, but I don’t even know what restaurants are within walking distance of her. My husband thinks she would enjoy a gift certificate that would allow her to take a friend or two out for lunch, something she enjoys doing but can’t really afford.
All this thinking about Mother’s Day gifts reminded me of my own personal favorite gift that my daughter gave me a few years ago. She made my gift while she was in kindergarten and it’s a ceramic print of her little hand. The teacher wrote the date on the back and I really cherish it. I see it everyday and it warms my heart. I love that something so very simple is so meaningful. I would love to receive a gift like that every single year!
I was at the store yesterday purchasing Mother’s Day cards and really wanted to get one for my daughter-in-law, I just couldn’t find one that I liked. This isn’t her first Mother’s Day to celebrate, I just know how much it means to her to be a mom and thought it would be nice to send her a card. I’ve also wondered if she’s ever considered Cryo-Cell U-Cord or if she would consider it the next time she has a baby. Cryo-Cell preserves a newborn’s umbilical cord blood for potential use against many diseases that the child could get in the future, including common diseases like diabetes. Cryo-Cell could really be a great gift for any new mom, possibly even a Mother’s Day gift.
So, what are you doing for Mother’s Day?

What a total pain in the a$$ my computers have been over the last couple of weeks!
We have 3 computers in our house, one I use strictly for work. The other 2 are my own personal desktop and laptop computers. The first, the desktop, went on the fritz 2 weeks ago. Woke up one morning and the dang thing was dead, just like that. No warning, no hestitation, just dead. I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t even had time to take it in to have it looked at and I use the laptop 80% of the time anyway, so it was easy to put that task off. Then, yesterday, the electrical cord to the laptop started crackling and shot a couple sparks and I quickly unplugged it from the computer to keep the computer safe. Of course, that meant that I only had a limited battery life, so I just shut it down.
Of course, all of this has meant that I’ve had even more limited time on the computer because I also needed to let my daughter use it. It’s not so bad when both are up and running, if she’s on one, I can hop on the other. But, having only one, and then none, was tough on both of us! I especially want to apologize for not returning EC drops yesterday and not responding to comments.
I ran to Best Buy today and bought a new cord for the laptop and that got me back in business. I still need to take the desktop in to see if can be repaired. In the mean time, I did actually get a sewing project completed yesterday and started a second one. I have to admit, while I was bothered by the fact that I couldn’t return comments and drops, it was very nice to not be on the computer yesterday and actually get tome other stuff done around here!

I can’t believe it, but it’s only 2 more months before we travel to Indianapolis to attend my nephew’s wedding! This wedding has been in the planning stages for well over a year, in fact, it may be close to 2 years that they’ve been busy making arrangements and I just know everything is going to be beautiful.
This brings me to my latest concern… shoes. Yes, my daughter and I both need shoes for the wedding. We’ve both purchased our dresses and my daughter even has her jewelry picked out, but, neither one of us has picked out our shoes. I’m looking for something with a about a 2 inch heel, but my daughter prefers flats. I recently noticed a post on another blog where they were discussing a site to buy shoes, so I headed over to check them out. I find some really cute sandals for my daughter and I’m wondering if she would like them.

I think these flat sandals would look terrific with the dress she is going to be wearing. Her dress is black, with a strip of dark blue/green down the front. Even the jewelry she’s wearing would be accented nicely by the accents on these particular shoes. Of course, this would mean that I’d have to convince her to NOT wear the black sneakers that she’s currently planning on wearing! I’m hoping that she’ll realize how much nicer these sandals would look!
Whatever she decides, if you’re also in the market for shoes, you just might want to check out AMI Clubwear, they have a huge selection to choose from!
