I remember the days of having to buy baby formula. This is one grocery item that quality is a must and price doesn’t necessarily dictate which brand to buy. We all want the very best for our babies. As a mom of an infant, it’s important to feed our babies formula filled with all the right nutrients, vitamins and minerals that will help our babies to grow into healthy toddlers. Comforts for Baby is a baby formula that not only has all the right and necessary ingredients, but also includes nutrients that are found naturally in breast milk which important for the development of a healthy immune system.
If you need an even better reason to check out Comforts for Baby, the makers of Comforts, Kroger food stores own brand of baby food, is currently having a contest to name the cute little firefly mascot. The name has to be 25 letters or less, and entries are being accepted online. The grand prize is a $10,000 scholarship which will be awarded in the form of a 529 college savings plan. This contest has all ready begun and runs through july 31, 2009, so put your creative imagination to work and come up with something fun for the cute little firefly, he deserves a cute name!
I was so surprised to receive notice from The Bee that she was bestowing an award on my blog. This was even more surprising because the author of The Bee was lurking and didn’t come out of lurk mode until recently, but I’m certainly glad she did! She has a fun and interesting blog that I didn’t know about until she left me a comment and I hope my readers will also check out her blog.
So, I want to thank The Bee for bestowing these awards on The Sewing Mom!
This past Saturday, we were invited to a crawfish boil. Obviously, a crawfish boil isn’t cause for getting dressed up, but while standing in my closet, attempting to find something decent to wear, I realized just how outdated my wardrobe is. You see, since my daughter was born, I have a huge tendency to go clothes shopping for her while not doing the same thing for me.
Years ago, I worked in clothing retail and purchased new clothing pieces regularly. Since becoming a mom and leaving my huge retail discount behind, I find I only buy myself one or two new items per year. So far this year, the only new thing I’ve purchased is the dress I’m going to wear to my nephew’s wedding next month, nothing more. I could sure use an update to my wardrobe. As for the crawfish boil, I wound up wearing a pair of denim capris that I purchased last summer and a shirt that I’ve owned for probably 8-10 years, in a neutral beige color. Pretty boring, especially when you consider all the beautiful colors that are available this summer.
I recently discovered AMI Clubwear for everything from a summer dress to tank tops to shoes and accessories. This morning I found this white collar shirt that would have been perfect for me to wear to the crawfish boil and would be a great piece to wear anytime. A classic look, a white shirt is a must have piece and this one would help me update my closet. Guess my next big project need to be to get rid of a bunch of old clothes and get updated!

The above photo was taken last weekend, by me, at the PFX softball tournament opening ceremonies in McKinney, Texas. This was just after all of the amateur teams (110 of them) had been introduced and the professionals were taking the field. My daughter is somewhere in that very large group bordering the infield.
This is just a small post to give an indication of part of what is keeping us so busy of late. My daughter is a softball player and we are right in the thick of softball season. Between practices and tournaments, I’m busy trying to keep the house from falling apart and trying to work 20-25 hours a week, not to mention cooking dinners and making it to scheduled appointments. But, all that said, I’m sitting here drinking my coffee, having a quiet moment before I start my morning shift.
I hear about people taking wonderful vacations to Florida all the time. In fact, one of my closest friends just returned from a family vacation there last month AND, I even have a niece living in Florida. And yet, I haven’t been to Florida since 1979 and I can tell you, most of the amusement parks that exist today were not even a dream in 1979! I would so love to go back, especially have seeing this incredible new ride at SeaWorld.
Manta is the awesome new face down, head first, roller coaster ride at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida. Now, I’m not a thrill seeker by any stretch of the imagination, but this looks amazing! I just showed the demo to my 13 year old and her eyes got HUGE! She wants to go now too! Seriously, this is just a short clip, but doesn’t this look like it would be a blast?
Plus, right now, SeaWorld is having a contest and the prizes include a “Front of the Line” pass to ride Manta. Although, I don’t think standing in line would be too bad since while you’re waiting, you get to see all types of aquatic fish and animals in floor to ceiling aquariums. This ride is brand spanking new, just opened last month.
There are 6 steps to completing the contest, finish just 2 of them and you’ll get a free electronic photograph from your Manta ride experience at SeaWorld Orlando. Complete all 6 activities and get the “Front of the Line” pass. If you’re heading to Orlando, this Manta contest is definitely worth checking out!
