Note: This post is sponsored by Kmart, however, the opinions and memories are truly mine.
I told you that my daughter and have finished with her back to school supply shopping, but now we’re gearing up for the back to school clothes shopping. On top of that, my daughter has decided it’s time to redecorate her room, so we’ve been hunting online and in stores for a new comforter for her bed and the accessories to go along with it.
Imagine my excitement to find out that Kmart is bringing back the Kmart Bluelight Specials that I remember so fondly from years ago! I remember being my daughter’s age, shopping with my mom in Kmart, and the announcement coming over the intercom system that a Bluelight special was taking place somewhere in the store. It could be anywhere, woman’s clothing, shoes, electronics or anything in between. The thing is, when the announcement would be made, the shoppers in the store, including us, knew they had to hurry and get to where ever the blue light was flashing if they wanted the special item because the Bluelight Special is for a very limited time, sometimes only 10 minutes! It was like being in a hunt, a shopping hunt! Bluelight Specials are a shoppers dream!
Kmart is bringing back the Kmart Bluelight Specials tomorrow, Saturday, August 1, for one day only. There will be over 40 different specials taking place throughout the day and through the entire store so there will surely be something for everyone. Who knows, maybe we’ll be able to find the perfect comforter for my daughter’s room, or some new jeans for school, at ridiculous Bluelight Special prices!

It’s been so busy around here this month I’ve barely had time to keep up with anything, including this blog. I’m trying, but I’m also staring at a family room that truly needs cleaning, so I’m going to post my favorite meme, Four Foods on Friday and then start some house cleaning! I was actually let off early from work this morning, so I’m going to do my best to make the most of it.
Here are this weeks questions and my answers.
1. What’s your favorite flavor of Italian Ice? I actually don’t know if I’ve ever had an Italian ice!
2. Watermelon. So you prefer seeded or seedless? I prefer seedless, but sometimes they don’t have as much flavor.
3. Ice cream. Do you prefer soft serve or hard? I prefer hard most of the time, but a good soft serve cone is pretty tasty now & then!
4. Ice pops. What kind is your favorite? I love the red ones and the purple too.
Valmg is doing some updating to her blog and also making some possible changes to this meme. Don’t forget to visit her and leave her a link if you’re going to participate!

While driving through South Carolina last summer, my daughter and ran through the drive through of a McD’s and she ordered a fish sandwich. This is the sandwich that was delivered through the drive through window and we were both amazed at just how perfect it looked, not a single finger print or indentation in the bun at all!
We both got a good chuckle out of it and then she enjoyed eating it.

I can’t believe it, but our granddaughter turned 2 this past week! She is the cutest little girl ever and I am looking forward to getting to see her again soon. Her parents had a huge birthday party for her, over 40 people! My step-daughter was even asking me questions about party etiquette and I told her that we have never had that size of a party for our own daughter who is now 13. When our daughter turned 2, it was just the 3 of us celebrating together with a cake I had made for the day!
It’s funny the choices we all make, how they can be so very different. I do believe though, that as parents, no matter what decisions we make for our children, we have their best interests at heart. I recall a very difficult decision I had to make when our daughter was little and that involved what to feed her. My husband had been laid off from his job and so we were on a very tight budget and I was always having to find ways to save money, but I didn’t want money to be a deciding factor in what to feed our baby. I know my daughter-in-law went through the same difficult decision just 2 years ago.
There are so many baby formula choices. Thankfully, Consumer Reports recommends buying store-brand formulas because they are nutritionally comparable to Enfamil® LIPIL® and other name-brand formulas. They’ve also said that the store brand of formula at a local Wal-Mart (Parent’s Choice) cost 50 percent less per ounce than a leading national brand. So, not only can choosing a store brand formula over a national brand save you money, it’s still a healthy choice for the baby. There is a baby formula savings calculator available at the Parent’s Choice website that helps anyone see just how much money they can save.
I know that I always purchased powdered formula. It may take a little extra work, but it’s definitely more economical. The money I saved allowed me to purchase other things for our baby!

My nephew got married 2 weeks ago today! It’s hard to believe it’s all ready been 2 weeks since we were with my family, enjoying an absolutely beautiful wedding and each others company. We all had such a great time. I took a lot of photos, but am choosing to share only a few here. I’m not a fan of sharing personal photos on the web for anyone to copy and a wedding is so personal. I’m sure if my nephew wants to share them, he’ll let me know.
Here’s one that I’ll always remember, the beautiful and delicious wedding cake! (those berries are all real and all fresh)
