Exercise Anyone?

Exercise Anyone?

Finally, the weather has started to cool just slightly and the humidity is lower.  So, what did I do to take advantage of the nicer weather in Dallas?  I started walking again!

Yesterday was my first walk in probably a year, I just hadn’t felt motivated.  But, lately, I’d been feeling somewhat achy and I attribute that to spending so much time on the computer, sitting.  I laced up my sneakers yesterday morning and headed out for a walk that is about 1.25 miles.  When I got home, my daughter got me to do the Wii Fit which informed me that I hadn’t been on the program for 350 days!  OOPS!  So, I did about 20 minutes of balance and aerobic exercises and by the end of the day, I was feeling the burn in my thighs!

This morning, as much as I didn’t want to, I laced up the sneakers again and, this time with our dog along, I repeated my walk.  It was an absolutely beautiful morning and I’m so glad I made myself go.  The dog needs the exercise as much as I do and as soon as we got home, she jumped in the pool and then came in the house, laid down and has been asleep ever since!  I think I wore her out.

I have my mammogram this afternoon as well as my annual bone density test.  I’m hoping that my year of being on prescription medication for bone loss will show some payoff today.  Wish me luck!

Do You Want to Play Some Fantasy Football?

It’s the end of August and we’re all ready over 2 weeks in to the pre-season of professional football, hard to believe! My husband is completely addicted to football and actually plans his weekend around watching his team play. We even pay extra for the NFL package on our satellite t.v. service.

Now, we’ve both participated in football pools over the years, but we’ve never really gotten into fantasy football. That could all change very soon. WaiverWire is a great new website devoted to fantasy football. It has software dedicated to the draft, and uses the same type of analytical tools that are used in the financial markets. The site provides access to over 100 Local NFL team news feeds , football news, and even fantasy football rankings. To bring other fantasy football players together, WaiverWire includes a forum for discussion.

This is exactly the kind of site that could possibly entice my husband into the world of fantasy football. Truthfully, I think it could be a lot of fun, after all, every time we watch a game together we end up talking about how the team could be so much better if they had this player or that player, this coach or that coach. Why not put our vision into the fantasy football world?

Sleepy Bear – A Review and Contest

Isn’t this the cutest little Mama Bear you’ve ever seen?

This is actually the Organic Sleepy Bear, seriously, isn’t she cute! I love the way she is carrying her little baby bear in an all organic Sleepy Wrap, snuggled up so close for safety and security! Both bears are so super soft, made from 100% organic cotton and there are no parts to pop of that could pose potential choking hazards to our little ones. The eyes, nose and mouth are all stitched on for safe play. There is nothing that could be pulled off and put into little mouths. This wonderful little bear is perfect for play and for snuggle time.

Notice the adorable little wrap that is holding the baby bear? That Organic Khaki Wrap is also made from %100 organic cotton and is available for adult human moms to use for their own human babies! The wrap is available in both natural and khaki colors and is just as soft as the Sleepy Bear.

If you are a new mom or know someone who is, or maybe you’re looking for that perfect baby shower gift, the Organic Wrap is a great gift, even for yourself. The Sleepy Bear is great for kids of all ages as my 2 year old granddaughter will tell you, she loves it! “Love” Your Blog

I was so pleasantly surprised today to discover that Buggy from Cute as a Buggy has given my blog this lovely, J’Adore Tien Blog award. I understand it means I Love Your Blog.

There are a couple of guidelines, or rules, that come along with this award:

1. Copy the image above.
2.Pass the award on to the bloggers you feel deserve. As many as you like.
3. Leave a message or a comment with the bloggers you give it to, notifying them of the award.
4. Leave a comment on the blog of the person who gave it to you.

Now, I do visit around 300 other blogs almost every day, and I have to admit that there are so very many that I would like to give this award to that I am having trouble narrowing it down, there are so many blogs that I love! I’m just going to have to pick a few, so here we go:

1. Lenox Knits
2. Proud Mommy
3. Redsox Mommy even though I’m a White Sox fan!

There are so many more that deserve this award, but alas, I am out of time!

Swords Anyone?

My daughter had an excellent first day of school yesterday and was enthusiastic to return for day 2! The first day this year was 100 times better than last year when she was new to the junior high, had all kinds of trouble getting her locker to work and found herself walking in circles around the building on several occasions trying to find classrooms. Yesterday was a cake walk!

I think the most difficult task is simply navigating the crowded hallways, it’s like being in a jungle with super tall, thickly embedded plants that you have to cut down with a machete! Don’t get me wrong, she doesn’t take any naruto swords with her to school or anything, but if the school supply list included one, we’d be shopping at heavenlyswords.com!

Seriously, they have hundreds of swords to choose from at Heavenlyswords.com including swords from some of my daughter’s favorite Anime shows like Naruto. I know her friend is in the Anime club at school and if they were to ever have a costume day, having one of these swords would certainly complete the outfit.

Don’t worry, swords are not allowed at school and I would never consider having her take anything with her that could cause injury to another, but they would allow them at an Anime conference or fan club outing I’m sure. In the mean time, I’ll be waiting to hear about day 2 of 8th grade!
