Serging For Charity – Eyeglass Cases

I took my serger machine and some fabric to the local Viking Sewing store inside Joann’s today and participated in their serge for charity. From just 4 fat quarters, I was able to make 8 eyeglass cases which are being donated locally to an eyecare charity. This was a great way to spend the afternoon doing something I enjoy doing and giving to those who need it. While

When I got home I made an additional 4 eyeglass cases from 2 fat quarters. I then took a piece of upholstery fabric and made another one and it came out really nice. I really like the thickness of the upholstery fabric combined with a cotton fabric I used for the lining. I think I’m going to order some special “SewingMom” labels to attach to these and had them to my shop.

I forgot to take my camera with me so I don’t have a photo of the 8 cases I donated, but these are the 5 I made after I got home. The green one is made from upholstery fabric.
