What Do You Call A Group of 1,000 Kids With Instruments?

A Band!

Thursday night we attended the annual tail gate party sponsored by the local high school band. What you see in the picture is approximately 1,000 students, all members of either the high school marching band (around 650), or one of the 3 middle schools in the district.

This is an incredible evening filled with fun, food and music. Our daughter is somewhere in this photo wearing a white shirt, she is in her 4th year of playing baritone and is in the 8th grade Honors band. Besides the goose bumps we get when we hear them all play, we also got to watch the high school marching band perform their contest piece to the music of Carmen. It was their first time to perform it for an audience. I have to say, the band is so HUGE, it’s hard to watch all that is going on, but they sure did sound terrific!

Thanks for the memories Lynne, I love this!! Oh yes, as of now, I am staying with EC. We will pay the $50 fee a year.

Now if they make anymore crazy changes then I may change my mind again. But, I know from experience that each time I have left in the past I lost almost a third of my traffic.

I had to put my tail between my legs each time and come back to get my traffic back.

I hope you will stay too. but, either way, I have you bookmarked!!

Oh as my husband explained to me, if we are indeed making money on our blog, then the $50 would be considered a fee paid for advertising, thus tax deductible.

So for now, I am staying!!

Happy Monday and I am so glad you took these pictures!!
    Hugs,
    Jackie

P.S. Does The High School Band still wear Blue and gold?

Jackie – I do plan to stay with EC, for now. I am not planning to pay the fee, I will have to wait to see how the “15%” of paid ad traffic affects those who pay with EC. I do wish they would develop a widget that could hold an EC paid ad and a $ paid ad at the same time and I wish they would give the bloggers the approval control.
I’m very glad you’re staying, but would visit your blog no matter what! I do completely understand about the traffic. There are many days I think I could be accomplishing much more with my sewing if I wasn’t sitting dropping cards, but I need the traffic to in order to qualify for more paid opportunities, one more way I try to supplement our household income.
Guess we’re just going to have to wait and see how EC plays out over the next few months!

Oooh, I LOVE Marching Season! I hope your kids go into marching band in high school, it can be so darned rewarding and FUN! It’s by far the best thing my kids have ever participated in. And oh, we just happen to be performing “Carmen” too!

Hi Greg! Yep, Taylor is planning on playing in band, at least one more year! I can’t remember, what instrument did you play? It’s definitely a bit overwhelming to see this huge band perform.

Lin – I do believe my daughter plans to play in the marching band next year (9th grade), after that, we’ll have to wait and see. I think she’s going to love it and will continue to play, at least I hope so!
