Piecing a Table Runner

ballet slippers table runner, originally uploaded by the_sewingmom1.

After cleaning my sewing room yesterday, I decided to get busy on a new project. My sister Grace had sent us all instructions for completing a table runner, unfortunately, I couldn’t figure it out! So, I got out another table runner project I had on my to do list and got started.

This picture is the first block I completed. I finished one more last night before going to bed and another this morning. There will be a total of 4 blocks when I am done. I have the last block laid out, I just need to cut the pieces and stitch it together. I will get that done later today. Right now I’m on a coffee break!

Have a wonderful day!

Blast Off with a New Business or Career

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Allison Maslan, author of “Blast Off!”. All opinions are 100% mine.

So I spent the last week in training for a new position with my employer. It is definitely more customer service oriented and will empower me to help customers resolve their issues rather than requiring me to pass them off to someone else which is what I currently have to do. I think it’s a good career move for me and I will enjoy it. I knew it was time to look at other areas of the company because I was really beginning to feel complacent and bored in what I was doing.

If you’re feeling stuck in whatever it is that you’re doing or attempting to do, and you don’t know how to get moving forward again, you might want to check out Blast Off! the best selling book from life and business strategist Allison Maslan. Whether you’re wanting to move forward in your current line of works or maybe even start a new business, Blast Off! can help you find the inspiration you need to be successful.

The book sells for only $24 or less and is available on Amazon, Borders, Barnes and Noble websites. Personally, I’d be interested to see if it could give me advice on getting my sewing business off the ground. I like my job okay, but my dream is to sell what I sew!

What is your dream job?

Isn’t this a fabulous photo?! My sister Grace took this photo of the cardinal, located in Eastern Kentucky.

Valentine Fabric Purse

This fabric always reminds me of Valentine’s Day! I love the browns and red and the print is full of lovely hearts.

I created this small purse a while back and still have it for sale. It’s one of my favorites because of the fabric and the size. I also like the security of the zipper closure, keeps everything from falling out! It does not have any pockets, but it is fully quilted and very strong. I think maybe I will make a cell phone holder to go with it.

Tomorrow I start a 5 week training program at work. It also means I won’t be working from home, I have to actually drive to the office! That of course means I have less computer time and less sewing time. Not sure how I’ll do it, but I’ll try to keep up!

Hope everyone has a great week! :-D

Need to Have A Getaway

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Hiltons of Branson. All opinions are 100% mine.

I’ve just had a horrible day, dealing with a young teenager who has absolutely no concept of time and doesn’t seem to think it’s an inconvenience for her mom to take her and pick her up anywhere, any time. Maybe I’m just tired, but I would love a getaway.

Mind you, I actually would love to getaway by myself, perhaps on a quilters retreat, but I don’t think my husband would go for that! He’d probably thinking more along the lines of the Romance Package at the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing where we could enjoy beautiful accommodations, sparkling wine, a sparkling pool and whirlpool, plus have breakfast delivered right to our room in the morning. Truthfully, I have to admit, that does sound pretty nice. Think about it, not having to deal with the moods of the teenager, not having to make the bed, and not having to cook! Okay, count me in! Seriously, check out this view!

If we got bored of each other (which is distinctly possible), we could go check out some of the live entertainment right there in Branson. There are tons of shows to choose from, 49 live entertainment theaters to be exact.

If the hotel at Branson Landing is sold out for our date of choice, we can always go right across the street to the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel and enjoy the same Romance package.

I just need a relaxing day or two, away from the teenager and her idea of a “fun filled weekend”, and time to myself to chill. Nice accommodations, pampered service and dining out would suit me just fine!
