We spent the weekend in Keller, Texas watching softball. For anyone who doesn’t know, Keller is just north of downtown Fort Worth. Following our last game on Saturday evening, we were invited to go to dinner at a famous Mexican restaurant near the Fort Worth Stockyards. It was an intriguing offer, we were starving and we headed out!
Joe T Garcia’s takes up an entire block, probably the largest restaurant I’ve ever been in. As soon as we pulled into the back parking lot we saw a huge line of people waiting to get in. They don’t take reservations and they don’t accept credit cards, but people flock here daily for a choice of either fajitas or enchiladas, 2 of my favorites, so we decided to go with the flow and give it a try.
We waited in line I’m sure for over an hour. Thankfully, they have an margarita bar set up outside that sells pitchers of margaritas to those standing in line. It definitely helped pass the time and we had good conversation with our softball friends.
We were finally seated in one of the many patios that have been added on to the original restaurant over the years. The weather was beautiful so it was nice to be sitting outside, although they do allow smoking and that finally drove us to leave after eating, even though we were enjoying our company.
The food was decent and served family style, but I think people have continued to come here for over 70 years because of the atmosphere, not necessarily the food. Okay, they do make great margaritas!
I’m not sure we will return to Joe T Garcia’s, but it was worth the experience, at least once! I would like to go back down to the Stockyard area again sometime. There were many shops and other restaurants that I wouldn’t mind checking out.
Isn’t this a beautiful sight! This is a photo my sister Grace took outside her home in Kentucky. I love flowering trees, don’t you? They give me so much hope of thiings to come and they are so pretty to look at. This one is particularly gorgeous!
Please keep the families and the miners in your prayers today. My own brother-in-law was dispatched to this mine to assist in the rescue operations, this tragedy hits very close to home.
The plan for today is to drill holes down through the earth that will supply oxygen to anyone still trapped underground. Prayers are needed.

My husband’s birthday is the end of July and I’ve all ready informed him that we will be taking an extended weekend vacation so he needs to request the time off from work. He amazingly agreed and so I’ve been so busy making plans, deciding where to go.
He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and I’ve always heard stories of summers spent visiting the Ozarks and the Silver Dollar City amusement park. Imagine my excitement when I learned that the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing is offering a special Silver Dollar City Package and that Silver Dollar City is celebrating its 50th anniversary! I know we will have an awesome time and the thought of taking our exhausted bodies back to a beautiful Branson hotel for a great night’s rest, sounds like the perfect long weekend to me, and I’m sure my husband and daughter will both agree.
I know my husband has such fond memories of his family visits to Silver Dollar City and it will be interesting to see his reaction to the theme park all these years later. I’m sure most of the rides have been updated, but I am also sure that there will be some things he remembers. My daughter loves roller coasters and rides, so this will be a great destination for her. I just love getting away once in a while, so I know I will have a great time! The Silver Dollar City Package being offered by Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel includes 2 nights accommodations, plus two adult tickets and two children’s tickets (ages 4 to 11) for two full days of fun at Silvery Dollar City. It also includes a $25 food and beverage voucher for Level 2 Steakhouse located on the second floor of the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel. This two-night, three-day package starts at $455.00 plus tax. We can also reserve the same package at the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing.
As if visiting the theme park isn’t enough to keep us busy, there are all kinds of shows, shopping and dining to be done in Branson. Maybe we need to go for longer than just a long weekend!!
I finished piecing this table topper! The pattern is called “Ballet Slippers” and I used Moda’s Astor Manor fabric collection. I made this for my kitchen table, but I do think it turned out bigger than my table! So, looks like it may be a new wall hanging instead. Of course, this is just the top, I still need to quilt it and bind it before it’s actually done. However, I’ve started a new quilt, so finishing this one is on hold for right now.
