Not So Wordless Wednesday – Applique

applique

This quilt block was sewn together by my mom, Myrna. If I remember correctly, there will be a total of 9 appliqued blocks which will come together to create one of the most beautiful quilts. The applique is all pieced and stitched by hand and mom is doing a beautiful job, don’t you think?! She gives away most of her quilts, but this one she is making for herself and will display it proudly in her own home.

Online Education

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of USC. All opinions are 100% mine.

I spend so much of my day online, I might as well spend a little more time and further my education while I’m at it! Seriously, I work almost every day between 3-5 hours for my job, all done online. I end my almost daily shift, fix myself some lunch and sit down at a computer in my living room to read blogs, scan the internet and check email. Usually a two or three hours passes before I decide to go get some fresh air, do some sewing, cook some dinner and then, in the evening, get back on the computer to read a few more blogs, scan the internet some more and do a last check of my email. I really do think I should use my time more productively, I’m addicted to being on the internet, so why not get some program information on getting an online degree.

There are so many schools offering online degrees, but I would want to learn from the best. One of THE best would have to be USC. Why? Here are just a few reasons:

  • Earn a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from an internationally renowned research institution with a 100-year history of educating teachers to be agents of change
  • A School of Education which has been ranked #22 in the United States, and #9 among all private universities by US News and World Report
  • A groundbreaking tuition reimbursement program designed exclusively for MAT@USC graduates
  • Full USC student status and benefits, participation in commencement ceremonies and free lifetime Alumni Association memberships
  • The opportunity to become part of the elite USC Trojan Family

I really can’t think of a better time to get an online degree either, especially for anyone wanting to get a better job, further their career or even simply meet personal goals.  The school even offers an accelerated program that can be completed in as little as only 12 months plus they have a tuition reimbursement program and available scholarships that might be worth checking in to. The USC Rossier School of Education’s MAT@USC offers current educators and aspiring teachers the prestige of earning a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from an elite research university with the convenience and flexibility of studying online.

If you’ve ever even considered furthering your education online, you should check out the program information offered by USC.

Nana’s Garden Quilt Top

I got busy this weekend, maybe the fact the we finally had some beautiful weather, the wind wasn’t howling, and we had a day off from work and softball. Not sure, but all those things combined got me to be productive! I spent several hours working outside on the landscaping, pulling weeds, mulching, trimming bushes and what not. Finally, after getting myself cleaned up, I managed to get the outside borders sewn onto Nana’s Garden, so I have a finished quilt top. Of course, I still have to buy the backing fabric and quilt it, but that will come…

Butterfly Quilt – The Beginning

I purchased this quilt as a kit, so I am limited on fabric and therefore need to be very careful in my cutting and sewing.

I began by successfully cutting all of the fabric into appropriate squares and rectangles. The first step in sewing was to create the upper wings of the butterfly. This was accomplished by sewing small squares to the upper inside corners of the larger colorful rectangles. The squares were then trimmed off and pressed.
