Dealing with the coach of my daughter’s softball team has been something of a challenge. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a super nice guy and my husband and I have even gone out to dinner with the coach and his wife a couple of times. The problem is that when it comes to the team, he just doesn’t communicate what his plans are, especially to the parents.
We were under the assumption that we would be playing all summer and into the fall. Well, he never communicated that to the entire team, only a few of us knew, so many parents made other plans which meant we didn’t seem to always have enough players to play. This became very frustrating. Over the last few weeks, I have spent time looking for other teams in the area and, this past week, my daughter actually went and worked out with another team twice. After the 2nd time, their coach asked her to join his team. That was last night.
Our current team had plans to play 3 games today in a local round-robin event. My daughter felt committed, so she attended and played. After the final game (by the way, we won all 3 games!), the coach gathered all the players and parents together and informed us all that the team was being disbanded! WTH?! I guess it’s a real good thing that I’ve been looking for another plan for my daughter! The looks on the faces of the players and their parents was one of total shock! Seriously, I thought he was going to say we wouldn’t be playing anymore this summer, but would pick up in the Fall. But no! He disbanded the team, with no warning!
So, it’s a good thing my Mama Bear protective skills came out and had all ready started looking for another team for my daughter to play with. She is actually starting with them tomorrow. They invited her to join them and they are currently playing in a tournament, so she will join them in the morning. I have been stressed about this for the last few weeks, and it looks like I had good reason to be. At least now, doesn’t have to feel bad about leaving the old team, that decision was made for her.
What a Day!

My daughter wanted to go to Olive Garden today for lunch, so, when I finished working, I got myself cleaned up and we headed down the road. The sun was shining and it was overcast in the distance, but I really didn’t think much about it. Guess I should have! We hadn’t gone 5 miles when the rain started and before I knew it, it was raining so hard I could only see about 25 feet in front of the car. I pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant and it was raining so hard, there was no way I was getting out of the car! I told my daughter we were going to sit and wait for it to lighten up.
We waited, and waited, and waited some more, all the while, our stomachs growling! It was raining so hard the parking lot looked like it had a large stream going through it. I didn’t have an umbrella, and even if I had one, it wouldn’t have done any good. The wind was blowing so hard, the rain looked like it was going sideways. Then it started to hail. I hate hail! It damages everything and is the biggest reason insurance prices are so high in Texas. Thankfully, it wasn’t a lot of hail, and stopped pretty quickly, even though the rain kept on coming.
It finally lightened up a little bit and we decided to make a run for it. Of course, we were drenched when we entered the doors of the restaurant, and, within 10 minutes of our being seated, the rain had completely stopped! It was one freak storm, that’s for sure, but we did have a very nice lunch and the car suffered no damage from the hail. Turned out to be a nice day!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Kissimmee Tourism. All opinions are 100% mine.
Have you ever been to Kissimmee, Florida? I have, but it’s been more than 30 years ago! That makes me feel so old! I can’t believe it’s been that long ago and I have such great memories of that trip. It was right after high school graduation, some friends and I drove from Texas to Kissimmee to celebrate before heading off to college. We had so much fun and I remember the area being so beautiful with tons of things to do.

I was just checking out the Kissimmee website and discovered that one of our favorite t.v. shows, Hell’s Kitchen, is being taped in Kissimmee and, there are a couple of tapings that we could make reservations for, one in July and one in August. That would be so cool! My husband always wonders how the guests are treated and how they can handle waiting up to 2 hours to get their food after they’ve ordered (or over 4 hours on last week’s show!). It always amazes me that the diners can hear all the yelling and screaming going on in the kitchen and I always wonder how much of it is an act and how much is real. And, we all wonder how good the food really is! I think it would be a blast to go, don’t you?
Of course, Kissimmee is close enough to Orlando that it also offers theme parks (Disney, Universal & Seaworld), plus numerous water parks, shopping and dining options. Central Florida also offers a ton of lakes and streams worth exploring too. What about you, what would be your favorite activity in Kissimmee?

Do you ever feel that your house is falling apart? That’s how I feel today!
I walked into our master bathroom night before last to discover water all over the floor and it was coming from the wall behind my husband’s sink. This cannot be good! I took a look outside and there is water along the foundation too. So, a plumber is coming this afternoon.
We have a very large backyard and use a lawn tractor to mow it. Well, this year we can’t get the mower started, so my husband has been mowing it with the push mower instead. This was doable while the temperatures were reasonable, but it’s been in the 100’s for about 2 weeks, so it has become impossible without suffering heat stroke! Mind you, he keeps the front yard mowed, but our backyard is now looking like a jungle. The tractor repairman is coming this afternoon.
We live in Texas and Texas has bugs and lots of spiders. So, the pest control is coming this afternoon.
Our a/c is struggling to keep our family room and kitchen cool due to the extreme temperatures. I really wish the a/c repairman was coming this afternoon!
I’ve got to get back to work, but needed to vent. Thanks for listening!
What next?
