Not So Wordless Wednesday – Find A Cure

fnd a cure

This photo really tickled me when I got it in an email recently. I actually wanted to share it with you because I believe in the message the photo conveys. If you have children, I am sure will take this message to heart and support those causes that help to fund breast cancer research.

Fall Has Arrived – Time For Fall Clothing!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Liz Claiborne New York Outlets. All opinions are 100% mine.

There was a time, just last week, that I was really truly beginning to think that the heat in north Texas was never going to leave and we would not get to enjoy the crisp cool days of Fall. Well, Mother Nature fooled me once again, and, right on time, took away all that nasty humidity we’ve been having for months, and brought in cooler temperatures and light, fresh breezes. In fact, yesterday morning it was a mere 52 degrees outside when I took my daughter to marching band practice.

These cool temperatures now have me rethinking my wardrobe. Seriously, I’ve been wearing shorts and sleeveless shirts since April and now I’m having to look for something to wear that I won’t show my goose bumps in while sitting outside at football games, band contests and softball games! Let’s not forget, I do occasionally leave the house to run errands and so I am seen in public once in a while! I want to look decent, I don’t like to wear sweatshirts and jeans every day. I’m here to tell you that I’m thankful for the Liz Claiborne New York Outlets and the fact that there is one located right here in town, just about 6 miles from my house! I always find the nicest tops, sweaters and lightweight jackets there. My favorite part of shopping there is, of course, that I don’t have to pay full price for anything.

Right now, even the new Fall fashions are available for sale – up to 40% off! That’s right, you don’t need new glasses, Liz Claiborne New York Outlets even has the new Fall collection on sale. So, tomorrow is my day off, and I’m going to do me some shopping. I especially need a decent lightweight jacket or car coat for wearing on these beautiful evenings. Are you lucky enough to live near an outlet mall?

Homecoming Mums

If you are a Texan, you know all about Homecoming Mums, if you are not, or have never lived in Texas, you probably have no idea what I’m talking about!

October is month that high schools around this country are celebrating Homecoming. There are football games and dances and other events, all to celebrate the homecoming of previous graduates. Here in Texas, there is one tradition that has become, for lack of a better word, GINORMOUS. That is the Homecoming Mum. Watch this video and you might get a feel for what I’m talking about. Texans will find this to be hysterical!

Do You Have a Beauty Regimen?

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of BH Cosmetics. All opinions are 100% mine.

Personally, I’ve never been one to wear a lot of makeup. I have always tended to like a more natural look. Now, that’s not to say I don’t wear makeup at all, I do. I normally wear concealer, a light foundation and some powder, and that’s about it. Years ago I always wore eyeshadow and mascara also. Over the years though, the area around my eyes has become too sensitive and I only wear eye makeup for special occasions now. My daughter is much younger though and is just now entering the world of makeup. She is currently just the opposite of me and wears nothing but eye makeup, particularly eye shadow and mascara. She adds a bit of eyeliner now and then too.

My daughter is a young teenager and I really can’t see the point in spending money on expensive department store makeup for her. I don’t even do that for myself! I spend a bit more on me nowadays to get makeup that covers all my lines, but she certainly doesn’t need any of that. I like the choices of eyeshadow palettes at BH cosmetics. Their palettes come with as few as 10 different colors and go up to as many as 120 colors in one palette! Now that’s a lot of choices for eye color at an extremely reasonable price! BH Cosmetics eyeshadow is “highly pigmented”, bendable with strong staying power so you definitely get your money’s worth. Plus, with that many color choices, my daughter can experiment to decide the colors that work best for her.

I also like the makeup brush sets that BH Cosmetics offers. I’ve learned over the years that a good brush is a great investment and I share that knowledge with my daughter. A great brush makes putting on makeup of any kind so much easier. I think I’ll be ordering 2 of the brush sets, one for me and one for her. Whatever we do, I’m happy that my daughter isn’t into wearing a lot of makeup. She all ready takes forever to get ready to leave the house, we don’t need to add to her time!

Not So Wordless Wednesday – Family

Photobucket

I love sewing with my mom and sisters. Thanks to my sisterKreated by Karen and to Photoshop, I was able to be with them this past weekend! Maybe next time I can be there for real. I wonder if they made an extra table topper for me?  I think it’s the least they could have done! :-D
