Do you use the same holiday decorations year after year after year like I do? I know, it’s usually just us, we don’t do a lot of holiday entertaining ,but I still like the house to look nice for the holidays, even if nobody special is coming over. Still, after having some of the same decorations for so many years, I am so ready to look for something new.
I’ve been shopping around for a while for new decorations. I want items that look nice but don’t cost me a fortune. I’ve been working on some quilted wall hangings for the house, but I don’t want everything to be handmade either, that can look too country for my taste. Plus, over the years I’ve tried to extend the decorating so that it’s not just in the family room, especially since this house has a family room that is completely open to the kitchen. I want some decorations that I can spice up the kitchen with too.
So today I was checking out Pier 1 and discovered some really festive holiday dinner ware that would bring the colors of the season into the kitchen. Plus, I found some small wreaths I could hang on the walls or even lay on the island with a nice candle in the middle to decorate very simply. Of course, if someone wants to buy me a gift, I would love the holiday stemware! I would really enjoy drinking my eggnog out of something so pretty!
By the way, if you shop at Pier 1 during November and December, they are a drop of point for Toys for Tots, an organization that we contribute to annually. If you don’t have a toy to donate, the Pier 1 cashiers will also accept cash donations at the register. To make it even easier, if you “Like” Pier 1 Imports on Facebook during the month of November, they will donate $1 directly to Toys for Tots!
This is a fabulous Friday! Why is it fabulous? Because we have absolutely no plans!
This is the first Friday night since August that we haven’t had a football game to attend. There is no softball tonight and no marching band. What am I doing with my free night? I’m sitting in front of the fireplace like a couch potato, that’s what!

I’m not sure if I ever mentioned it, but a few months ago, I had some very old silver fillings removed from 2 of my back molars. I’d had the fillings forever and, as any science person knows, metal shrinks and swells with changes in temperature, so over time, the fillings were causing small cracks in my teeth. This must be why metal is no longer used to fill cavities! So, I now basically have permanent caps over 2 of my teeth. It’s been several months, but I still find it difficult to eat on that side of my mouth and those 2 teeth are quite sensitive, especially when I’m rinsing my mouth out after brushing my teeth.
I’ve never had sensitive teeth before, so this is all very new to me. I’m considering a new product I discovered from Tom’s Of Maine a maximum strength sensitive toothpaste. I think I could feel confident in the fact that I was still getting my teeth clean,. but with the natural ingredients in their product, I could also find relief from the sensitivity. My husband might enjoy their Wicked Fresh!™ Mouthwash, it’s minty fresh!
Tom’s Of Maine is also hosting a contest for a chance to win a $500 Target gift card. Visit That’s Wicked Fresh contest page to enter for your chance to win. I’ve experienced a lot of Wicked Fresh moments this fall, particularly when I think about sitting smooshed into the stadiums every Friday night watching the high school football games. Trust me, I want to know I have a Wicked Fresh mouth when I am sitting that close to anyone!

I was working this morning and for some reason, my seemed to be feeling a bit insecure. She kept trying to get my attention, but eventually, she went over and attempted to disguise, or maybe hide, behind the curtain. Obviously, I can still see her, but she must have thought she was hidden!
Sorry for the picture quality, I took the photo with my cell phone.

Do you take any vitamin supplements? I do. If you’ve never shopped for vitamins before, it can be extremely overwhelming.
I have been diagnosed with osteopenia, early onset osteoperosis. To help, my doctor has asked me to take both calcium and vitamin D supplements every day. The first time I went to the store to make my purchase of these necessary vitamins, I stood there, not having a clue what to buy, there were just way too many options. I don’t mean just brand options either, but there are so many combinations even in a single brand. Thankfully, I found a very knowledgeable sales clerk who was able to help me out. You see, what I learned was that some combinations are better than others for different reasons. The biggest example for me was that calcium with magnesium, is easier for the body to absorb and therefore benefits the body faster and more efficently.
We all know that we can’t always rely on finding a nice, knowledgeable sales clerk in the vitamin aisle, so it’s very nice to know that Nature Made vitaminID.com offers an online survey that can be a great help in determining which vitamin supplements would be best for an individuals needs. Vitamin supplements are expensive, so it’s nice to have help in finding the right vitamins to spend our hard earned money on. They also offer live chats with registered dietitians to answer any questions.
Remember, the vitamins that work for me, may not be what works for you! Take the survey at vitaminID.com if you would like to know more about which supplements could benefit you .
