Four Foods on Friday #145

I know I haven’t participated for a while, but I really do love this meme. Val hasn’t been feeling well of late and I’m so glad she’s able to continue with this bit of Friday fun. It’s a nice way to welcome in the weekend! Val, I do hope you get to feeling better soon!

This week’s meme question: Name four things you ate in the high school cafeteria.

I ate just about everything, you see, I attended all 4 years of high school at a boarding school. My parents were working in the Middle East and the American school only went up to 8th grade. I had to go away to complete high school. So, I ate breakfast lunch & dinner in the cafeteria, every day of the week.

I will list 4 of my favorite things to eat at the high school cafeteria:

  1. Mac & cheese (everyone’s favorite!)
  2. mashed potatoes
  3. baked chicken
  4. corn

I stayed away from a lot of the meats, they just didn’t look real most of the time!

Great Weekend for Some Softball!

Softballs

My daughter recently changed select (travel) softball teams.  Yesterday they play in the the 2nd tournament that my daughter has played with them and it was a beautiful weekend weather wise.  This tournament was a double elimination with 28 teams.  There were teams from Austin, Houston and Dallas, not to mention several towns in between.  Of course, the very first team we played has gone on to win the whole shebang, but, if our girls hadn’t made so many errors, it would have been a better game.  Our girls have the skills to hang with the best of them, but maybe they just don’t want it as bad, not sure.

The 2nd game we won handily, 12-2.  A complete turn around from the first game, but we were also playing a much less experienced team.  We then moved on to game #3.  We went back to making errors, and this time, we let a team that we definitely should have beat, beat us.  I don’t mind the loss, I just hate to see the girls give the game away the way they did.  A lot of silly mistakes and even a really dumb base running error.

Oh well, at least the weather was nice and a great day to be outside, getting some Vitamin D!

Celebrating Mom

Mom

I hope all you moms enjoyed a wonderful Mother’s Day!  I know I did, it was so relaxing, I didn’t lift a finger to do a single thing the entire day.  Having so much time to myself allowed me to reflect on all the things I’m thankful for with my own Mom, pictured above.  This photo was taken just a month or so ago when she presented me with this beautiful quilt for my birthday.  The quilt was machine pieced and hand quilted by none other than my wonderful Mom!  Isn’t she fabulous!!
