It’s amazing how a little bit of rain can make a Texan smile lately!
In case you aren’t aware, most of the state of Texas is suffering from one of the worst droughts in its history. Today, we got a little bit of rain and now we’re all doing the happy dance! Oh, and did I mention that the temperature today is only in the upper 70’s? That’s like hitting the double jackpot considering that that we’ve endured the hottest summer on record. Trust me, I have the electric bills to prove it!
I don’t believe we have anymore rain in the forecast, so I will just enjoy this cloudy, cool day while it lasts. The 90 degree temps will be back tomorrow.

Is your cell phone bill one of your largest monthly bills? I know mine used to be! When I discovered that we could get Android on Straight Talk I looked into it and found that we could practically cut our monthly cell phone bill in half. Now that’s worth serious consideration!
What really, truly caught me Hook, line and sinker besides the cost savings, was that there is no contract, no credit checks, and no surprise bills to catch my budget off guard. That’s right, no surprises like activation or termination charges. Plus, StraightTalk offers all major phone brands including Motorola, LG, Nokia and Samsung (our current favorite!) and carry everything from the basic cell phone up to the touch screen smartphones.
I can get unlimited monthly calling, texts, pic texts and web, for only $45 each month, way lower than what I’m currently paying. I could even get an entire year of service for less than $500! Oh, and did I mention that international calling is included at no extra fee?!

Our high school band, of which my daughter is a part, was in attendance at last nights football game in Longview, Texas. My husband and I did not attend because it is a 2 1/2 hour drive each way, 5 hours round trip, just a bit further than we care to travel. But, I’m happy to report that there were many photographers and videopgraphers in attendance to capture moments just like this one you are about to see. Apparently, in honor of 9/11, they were playing the song “God Bless The USA” and our band showed that not only do the play instruments, but they also sing quite well!
First of all, let me apologize for being somewhat absent the last week! Time flies when we’re having fun I guess!
The first high school football game of the season is behind us, but it was so dang hot, over 110F, the band didn’t get to wear their new uniforms. So, this past Friday, the new, shiny uniforms were brought out for all to see. I think I actually like the old uniforms better, the new ones seem to remind everyone of Star Trek, but when the band is marching out on the field, they sure do look sharp!
