My name is Lynne and I am a blogger. There are times when I feel like I should be in a 12 step program for my addiction to all things internet! I know I spend way to much time on the computer, but I just can’t seem to help myself. Of course, if I got off the computer, I might find the time to dust off my sewing machine and get back to some of that beautiful fabric I know is waiting for me in the other room.

Anyway, back to my blogging. Besides being addicted to my computer, there are times I feel alone as a blogger. There are many, many blogs I visit on a daily basis, and many of those I comment on and receive comments from. We are blogging friends. Over the past few years since I’ve started blogging, I have only ever actually met 2-3 people in real life who also blog, not including my sister Karen who got me started, and even set up my blog for me. So, imagine my pleasant surprise when I logged in today and found a comment from someone who not only has her own blog, but lives in a neighboring town and, most important, actually shops a one of my favorite quilt shops, Happiness is Quilting, located in downtown McKinney. WOW! It really is a small world!

So, let me introduce you to my neighbor, fellow sewer, and new blogging friend Martha. Please check out her blog, I found it to be very pleasing to the eye and she has some great project she has completed and shared.

By the way, click here to enter my contest!

This week’s questions relate to how different foods have different names in different parts of the country, have you ever noticed that? This week’s questions and my answers:

1. How do you pronounce manicotti? Men-e-got, man-i-cotti or some other way? man i cot tee (the a and i are sort)

2. What do you can the carbonated drink that comes in a bottle? Soda, tonic, pop, fizzy or something else? I call it coke (no matter what brand it is)

3. What do you call a sandwich on a long roll? Sub, grinder, hoagie, hero, poor boy or something else? I call it a sub.

4. Do you call it broth, boullion or stock? How do you make chicken stock? I call it broth and I make it by opening a can and pouring it in my cooking pot!

My sewing machine has been sitting idle for over a month now.
IZEA has done it again! The company that created SocialSpark and Sponsored Tweets has put their creative minds together once again to develop their latest offering WeReward.

WeReward utilizes the latest, and one of the most popular pieces of technology, the iPhone and has its own app. The concept is really very simple and I’m surprised they didn’t think of it sooner! Simply visit iTunes to Download the App onto your iPhone, link the app to your Facebook, Twiiter or FourSquare account and then start earning money!

Earning money is easy because you visit places in your area that you’re probably going to anyway, restaurants, shops, etc., do a quick review, upload verification (i.e., a photo of you trying those new hot wings) and submit. Waalaa! You’ve just checked in and earned yourself some money. You can also earn by looking up what others are saying. Seriously, what an easy way to earn extra dollars! Finally, when you’re ready, cash out and your money gets deposited directly into your PayPal account.

For more information, please watch this short video and visit WeReward.com for all the details of this fabulous new program.

1. What did you eat yesterday? (Christmas for some of you.) Yesterday, I had Special K for breakfast, leftover pizza for lunch and a turkey noodle casserole for dinner.

2. Do you have any food traditions for Christmas? Cookies, cookies and more cookies!

3. What’s your favorite holiday leftover? Can I still say cookies? It’s really the only time of year I can count on homemade cookies!

4. What food do you always wish you had more of after the holidays? chocolate and cookies!

Be sure to check out Val’s site , she has so much useful information and hosts my favorite meme!

Last year I decided I wanted to utilize my sewing skills to create items I could use in decorating my home for the Christmas holiday. I had discovered an applique/quilt designer by the name of Nancy Halverson and I really enjoy the designs she creates and decided to give it a try.

I began by purchasing fabric and the pattern book, “The 12 Days of Christmas”.

From the numerous patterns in the book, I chose to make the “Countdown to Christmas”. These are individual quilt blocks created along with raw edge applique. I prefer the raw edge for decorative blocks, mainly because it is a faster applique technique (I don’t have to turn under the edges!). My sewing machine has a blanket stitch, so I am able to do most of the stitching by machine. I’ve added the loops to each block in order to hang them individually.

The completed project appears on the shelves in our family room, near our Christmas tree and I change the number panels each day as we “countdown to Christmas”!
