Getting Ready to Travel

It’s less than a month now before we head to Tennessee. This is a driving trip because I’m taking supplies and all of my items that are for sale. We’re beginning the trip preparation phase now, making sure we have everything we need and making sure our van is ready to make the trip.

We just had the tires checked out and the wheels balanced and aligned last month. Now we’re focusing on the engine, getting the oil changed, belts checked, transmission fluid, etc. Sometimes I think it would be easier to just get a car rental and let the rental company take care of all the maintenance! Our van is 8 years old (although it still looks new), and so maintenance is key to a safe trip. Although, there are some really good deals on rental cars right now, including 50% off luxury cars and convertibles. Personally, I always enjoy a rental car because they usually have all the fun toys and upgrades.

If I could fit all of our stuff in our car, I’d probably drive that instead, it does get better gas mileage than our van. Anyway, I’m looking forward to our trip and will be glad to have the van in tip top running order.

Getting Ready to Travel

I’m feeling a bit stressed and excited at the same time! I’m leaving in the morning for the airport and will be flying east in order to attend my niece’s graduating from nursing school.

My sister and her family, including my niece, live in Eastern Kentucky and it’s not the easiest place to fly in to unless you want to spend a fortune on airfare. Thankfully, my other sister who lives in Indiana is driving down for the graduation and so I managed to find a goof fare on a flight into Louisville where they will pick me up and then we will drive the rest of the way together.

I’m really glad we were able to work out our schedules, otherwise, I probably would have had to rent a car and then drive the distance by myself. I’m happy it’s all worked out the way it did. Do you have to use a car rental service when you visit family?

Now, if the weather will cooperate. They’re calling for thunderstorms in the DFW area tomorrow, that could cause me to be delayed. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
