This past Saturday, we were invited to a crawfish boil. Obviously, a crawfish boil isn’t cause for getting dressed up, but while standing in my closet, attempting to find something decent to wear, I realized just how outdated my wardrobe is. You see, since my daughter was born, I have a huge tendency to go clothes shopping for her while not doing the same thing for me.
Years ago, I worked in clothing retail and purchased new clothing pieces regularly. Since becoming a mom and leaving my huge retail discount behind, I find I only buy myself one or two new items per year. So far this year, the only new thing I’ve purchased is the dress I’m going to wear to my nephew’s wedding next month, nothing more. I could sure use an update to my wardrobe. As for the crawfish boil, I wound up wearing a pair of denim capris that I purchased last summer and a shirt that I’ve owned for probably 8-10 years, in a neutral beige color. Pretty boring, especially when you consider all the beautiful colors that are available this summer.
I recently discovered AMI Clubwear for everything from a summer dress to tank tops to shoes and accessories. This morning I found this white collar shirt that would have been perfect for me to wear to the crawfish boil and would be a great piece to wear anytime. A classic look, a white shirt is a must have piece and this one would help me update my closet. Guess my next big project need to be to get rid of a bunch of old clothes and get updated!

By the way, you can now follow AMIClubwear on Twitter – @Amiclubwear if you’re interested.

It’s been 12 years since I had to wear maternity clothes and I have to say, they are so much cuter now than they were 12 years ago! They’re very fashionable and trendy while still maintaining the comfort and functionality that maternity clothes need to have.

Look at this super cute dress! It doesn’t even look like a maternity dress! I can assure you that nothing this cute was available when I was pregnant! This dress is strapless and has a back zipper with a satin bow that ties in the front. Slight a-line cut makes it flattering on everybody. Due maternity has so many pretty dresses as well as casual attire for expecting women. The also carry their very own Due Designs. They carry tops, bottoms, dresses and activewear plus all the accessories you could ever need. In addition, Due Maternity also carries clothing and items needed for the nursing mom, skin care for mom and baby as well as diaper bags of all types.
If you know someone who is pregnant, Due Maternity is a great place to shop for gifts for the mom to be or for yourself. Right now, you can use code “BLOG1″ at checkout to receive free shipping on your order for the holidays.
If you’re currently pregnant, Due Maternity has a gift registry so you can let your friends and family know exactly what you want and they can then take advantage of the free shipping offer!
Women are naturally beautiful when they’re pregnant, their clothes should accentuate that, not cover it up.

That’s it, we’re done. Our back to school clothes shopping is complete, right down to the outfit required for band.
This weekend was tax-free weekend here in Texas and we took advantage of the fact that we could buy clothes and not pay the 8.25% sales tax. The tax free advantage only applies to clothing and shoes and that works for us because that’s exactly what we were buying.
After hitting two malls, one on Friday and one this morning, and a few shops outside the mall, my daughter has all the clothes she needs to get her through 7th grade, unless she grows! We even managed to find the black pants, black shirt and black shoes she needs for band, and they’re even stylish! Adding it all up, we spent just under $300 and saved about $25 in sales tax. Out of that, one pair of shoes was for myself (hey, I did all the walking and paying, I deserved something!).
Now we have all of this week to relax and enjoy the final week of summer vacation.
