Halloween Costumes

Halloween Costumes

Yes, we are talking about Halloween costumes and yes, it is still September. But, if you don’t plan ahead, the good costumes will be gone and you’ll get stuck with something you don’t like! My daughter loves wearing Halloween costumes and actually starts thinking about the next year as soon as the current year is done! This works out well for me since I have been known to make a few of her costumes in the past.

The first costume I ever made for my daughter was a beautiful witch costume. This was actually probably my favorite one to make because it was a simple black floor length dress with a coordinating overcoat that I created from a shear black webbed fabric. It was a lot of fun and, topped with a witches hat on her head, she looked fabulous!

The most difficult costume I’ve made for her would have have to be the Egyptian Queen costume pictured above. I swear I thought I was making a gown for a wedding. The dress of the costume had so many layers and the fabric was fairly heavy. In the end though, it turned out to be the most beautiful costume with all the beading and cords. This costume was completely sewn by me, including the neck piece. All of the beading and cords around the waist were also created by me. We did hit a couple of halloween costume stores to find the wig and head dress to complete the look.

So, what will your kids be for Halloween this year?
