Did You Get Everything You Wanted?

So, Christmas has come and gone and I hope everyone was able to enjoy a relaxing day with family and friends. Did you get up early to hit the stores this morning? Are you out there making those returns this morning? I have one I have to make, I’m heading out later today, hopefully missing the big rush.

This was what we in our house called “a light Christmas”. There were definitely far fewer gifts under the tree and my husband and I didn’t exchange gifts. That was okay with me. We focused in on the one main gift our daughter wanted and the joy on her face when she opened that gift was worth everything we gave up to get it for her. My husband did have a hard time not buying me anything, he wound up buying me some piece of electronic equipment that I don’t even understand what it is or why I would need it. That’s the item I’ll be returning today! I do appreciate his efforts, but…

I tried to tell him that he could go to get last minute gifts from Kmart and he more than likely would have found a perfect gift for me, or anyone else for that matter. In fact, he knew that I’ve been unable to find our candle holders that I use to decorate the mantle for the holidays, and Kmart carries the Martha Stewart Everyday tall nickel pillar candleholders for under $25. In fact, they carry a lot of gifts for under $25 including Leapfrog brand for kids and Craftsman tools for adults. There are over 25,000 gifts at Kmart for under $25, that’s a great place to shop! He could have even shopped online at Kmart.com.

Well, Christmas day may be gone, but I still would like those candle holders! How about you? What could you get at Kmart?

Need to Plan a Trip

So my daughter finished her last day of school yesterday and now is off for the next 2 full weeks. My husband came home from work Thursday night and informed me that the company he works for decided to have everyone take this coming week off, and I was laid off in October, so I’m home too. What are we going to do? We have absolutely no plans and plenty of time. We don’t have a lot of money as we’ve really tightened our budget this year, but it would sure be nice to do something together besides sit at home. I think that Vacations To Go is the perfect place for me to check and find something exciting and spontaneous for us to do next week at up to a 75% savings.

I’m going to check out some special last minute deals at Vacations To Go to see if there are any bargain cruises leaving out of Galveston. Perhaps we can get a good rate and it would be a wonderful surprise for my daughter who has never been on a ship as large as a cruise ship. I’m not a big cruise person, I don’t like being out on the water. But, a short cruise would suit me just fine and so, if the 90 Day Ticker tool at  Vacations To Go has anything good to offer right now, we’ll be packing our bags!  Cruises out of Galveston make port calls in Florida and the Bahamas which is someplace I’ve always wanted to visit.  If not the Bahamas, we could go to Jamaica or Cozumel, Mexico.

I’m thinking that if I can’t get something for this coming week, Spring break will be here before we know it and we could just as easily go then.  What about you, have you ever gone on a cruise?
