So, Christmas has come and gone and I hope everyone was able to enjoy a relaxing day with family and friends. Did you get up early to hit the stores this morning? Are you out there making those returns this morning? I have one I have to make, I’m heading out later today, hopefully missing the big rush.
This was what we in our house called “a light Christmas”. There were definitely far fewer gifts under the tree and my husband and I didn’t exchange gifts. That was okay with me. We focused in on the one main gift our daughter wanted and the joy on her face when she opened that gift was worth everything we gave up to get it for her. My husband did have a hard time not buying me anything, he wound up buying me some piece of electronic equipment that I don’t even understand what it is or why I would need it. That’s the item I’ll be returning today! I do appreciate his efforts, but…
I tried to tell him that he could go to get last minute gifts from Kmart and he more than likely would have found a perfect gift for me, or anyone else for that matter. In fact, he knew that I’ve been unable to find our candle holders that I use to decorate the mantle for the holidays, and Kmart carries the Martha Stewart Everyday tall nickel pillar candleholders for under $25. In fact, they carry a lot of gifts for under $25 including Leapfrog brand for kids and Craftsman tools for adults. There are over 25,000 gifts at Kmart for under $25, that’s a great place to shop! He could have even shopped online at Kmart.com.
Well, Christmas day may be gone, but I still would like those candle holders! How about you? What could you get at Kmart?

I’ve mentioned my daughter’s “wish list” in a previous post, well, that list has been growing. The list is posted on the refrigerator where I can’t miss it and I’ve noticed the list getting longer. I’ve all ready purchased several items on the list, but there is at least one expensive electronic item that I’ve been waiting on because of the expense. Plus, I need to get my husband a gift or two and, as we’re learning from attending softball tournaments, we need gear like comfy chairs and blankets to help us stay comfortable while contending with cold weather and high winds, sitting outside at a softball game. So, my shopping list has grown whether I like it or not. Since my budget is not growing, I have to say that I don’t like it!
Thank goodness that I can take advantage of the Kmart Layaway program which, while other retailers have eliminated this convenience long, long ago, Kmart has continued as a service to its customers. With layaway, I can make my purchases now, make a down payment and then pay the remainder of the balance over the next 8 weeks. It means I can feel confident in knowing that I’ve made the purchases before items are out of stock and, I don’t have to use a credit card to do it which saves me the inevitable interest charges. I don’t know about you, but with the holidays looming right around the corner, it’s nice to know that I can purchase those “wish list” items and the other items I need without breaking our personal bank.
If you’ve been waiting to start your holiday shopping, be sure to check out Kmart Layaway.

I woke up this morning and got my daughter off to school before making my coffee. While it was brewing, I headed to the refrigerator to get my creamer and discovered that my daughter had not only written, but posted her Christmas wish list on the front of the refrigerator where it couldn’t be missed! You can bet that I’m going to be taking advantage of the Kmart Layaway program.
Kmart has just about everything on her wish list, books, cd’s, and video games, so it’s one stop shopping. I can even throw in a few things for myself or the house. I’ve bought so many of my holiday decorations at Kmart over the years and now, Kmart has my favorite glass ornaments by Radko. With the Kmart Layaway program, I can purchase the items on my daughters list now, plus some new decorations, and make a payment every other week over 8 weeks. That keeps me from having to purchase things on a credit card. The added benefit is that I don’t have to find a place to hide the gifts around the house!
Things on her list that I can get at Kmart?
- Eclipse, by Stephanie Meyer
- Fearless, cd by Taylor Swift
- Twilight Soundtrack
- 2 manga books
So, I’m off to get some shopping done, see you later!

I’ve been noticing the new Kmart television ads recently and it got me to thinking, is Kmart the only retailer that still does layaway? I do believe it is, and, if so, what a great advantage for Kmart! This is a great service and, in this down economy, it’s a great convenience for shoppers, especially for the holidays.
Think about it, many parents all ready know the big ticket items that their kids want this year and yet, we wait to purchase that item because we are saving up the money for it. Then, when we finally have the money for the most wanted item that our kids want, it’s sold out, can’t find it anywhere. Layaway allows us to place the item on “hold” with a small down payment and small payments over an 8 week period of time. In other words, we parents can relax because we have our kids most wanted items on reserve and know that Christmas morning, there will be smiles all around. I’m thinking that a few Wii games will be perfect for me to put on Kmart Lay-Away now and not have to worry about them being in stock as the holidays get closer. The popular video games always end up being hard to find after Thanksgiving.

Another great reason to use layaway? Kmart stores your gifts for you, so you don’t have to hide them around the house and hope that your snooping children don’t find them! Truly, layaway allows the buyer to purchase items over time without putting it on a credit card and get charged high interest rates. I personally think it’s fabulous!
