Rail Fence Quilt

Rail Fence Quilt

I machine pieced this quilt from pink & green fabrics with the center piece being the Breast Cancer ribbon fabric. My sister Karen did the quilting on my mom’s longarm machine and then I finished it by putting the binding on by hand.

I am donating this quilt to the high school softball team’s annual Pink Night where it will be auctioned off and the funds raised donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for research in finding a cure.

Longarm Quilting

As you know, I’ve been working on a quilt top using Breast Cancer Awareness fabrics that, when completed, will be donated to my daughter’s high school softball team to be raffled off. The money raised will be donated to the Susan G Komen Foundation. I finished piecing the top and mailed it, along with backing fabric, to my sister Karen. She has my mom’s longarm quilter and offered to do the quilting for me which saves me a TON of time!

She sent me these photos of the quilting she did and I think it looks fabulous, don’t you?!

Quilts For Kids Quilts

My sister Grace is so busy. Not only does she work, take care of her own home and help out with watching her grand-daughters, but she also makes time to sew. She has created a number of quilts for the “Quilts for Kids” charity and I wanted to share of couple of her latest. This is a wonderful charity program and every quilt goes to a child who will cherish it.

Not So Wordless Wednesday – Applique

applique

This quilt block was sewn together by my mom, Myrna. If I remember correctly, there will be a total of 9 appliqued blocks which will come together to create one of the most beautiful quilts. The applique is all pieced and stitched by hand and mom is doing a beautiful job, don’t you think?! She gives away most of her quilts, but this one she is making for herself and will display it proudly in her own home.

Nana’s Garden Quilt Top

I got busy this weekend, maybe the fact the we finally had some beautiful weather, the wind wasn’t howling, and we had a day off from work and softball. Not sure, but all those things combined got me to be productive! I spent several hours working outside on the landscaping, pulling weeds, mulching, trimming bushes and what not. Finally, after getting myself cleaned up, I managed to get the outside borders sewn onto Nana’s Garden, so I have a finished quilt top. Of course, I still have to buy the backing fabric and quilt it, but that will come…
