If you’ve ever dreamed of traveling the world, there is definitely no better time than the present! British Airways has put the World on sale and it’s a great time to take advantage of some spectacular fares and packages.
Seriously, depending on where in the world you’d like to go, there are fares from as low as $229 each way from New York to London and back. Add a hotel to the mix and you can get a package rate for as little as $659! British Airways has flights from Atlanta, Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa and Washington D.C. They fly internationally to cities around the world including London, Cairo, Dubai, Hong Kong, Madrid, Mulan and Nairobi to name just a few.
It’s been many years since I’ve flown to an international destination, but British Airways was always one of my favorite airlines to fly. They have impeccable service, comfortable flights (ergonomic seats even!) and they even include meals in the price of a ticket. They also don’t charge extra for a blanket or pillow and they do their very best to make their customers comfortable throughout their flight.
I would love to take my daughter to Kenya. I’ve shown her photos from my trip there when I was her age. I went with my parents on a photographic safari and it is by far, one of my favorite trips of all time. I would love to give her the same experience.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
To take advantage of this “world sale”, just book your tickets by November 19,2009 and travel November 17, 2009 – March 28, 2010 (excluding December 21-23 2009) and March 29 – May 23, 2010, except for travel to India where the travel periods are November 17 – December 10, 2009 and December 25, 2009 – May 23, 2010.

I love to travel, do you?
When I was much younger, I was fortunate in the fact that my parents were living and working abroad. The opportunity for us to travel to a variety of countries was given to us and we took advantage of it. We visited many places in Europe and even spent 10 days in Kenya on a photographic safari, absolutely amazing! We never had the chance though to visit any place in Asia or Australia and I know there are so many beautiful places there and so much amazing history. I still have these two continents as places I would love to visit.
There are some great hotel deals you should know about if you are traveling to any of the following countries:
- Thailand
- Korea
- China
- Japan
- Hong Kong
- Australia
- Singapore
- Vietnam
- Malaysia
- New Zealand
- Fiji
- Indonesia
- Taiwan
- India
- Bali
Accor Hotels 3-Day Super Sale Asia Pacific will run from October 27-29 with a million hotel rooms on sale across Asia Pacific and rates will start at an amazing $30 US per night! That’s incredible! This sale is coinciding with air fare sales to make travel to Asia Pacific super affordable.
So, here’s the deal. Book between Oct 27-29 for a stay between December 2009 and April 2010. This could just be the travel opportunity we’ve been waiting for!

So, by now you know that my daughter and I have begun the annual late summer ritual of back to school shopping. Our household has not been immune to the recession in this country and so we find it even more important this year to pay attention to who is having sales and make sure we keep track of what we need and what we don’t. I have to tell you how thrilled I am that one store has decided to bring back on of my all time favorite shopping events, the Kmart Bluelight Specials and I am going to be there, ready to shop!
If you’re unfamiliar with the Kmart Bluelight Specials, let me fill you in. I can remember as a kid being with my mom in Kmart and, suddenly, an announcement would come over the store speakers “Blue Light Special in Ladies Shoes” and everyone in the store would make a mad dash to the ladies shoes department to find out what was the quick mark down. You had to rush because a Blue Light Special was only for a limited time (I remember 10-20 minutes), so there was no waiting around if you wanted a good deal on ladies shoes!
Now, to present day, for one day only, July 25, Kmart Bluelight Specials will be taking place throughout the store, throughout the day on just about everything in the store. In fact, there will be over 40 Blue Light Specials taking place over the course of the day. I know that I’m going to be able to find things on our back-to-school shopping list and find those items at excellent prices. So, you know where I’ll be tomorrow!
By the way, feel free to follow at @kmartdealsnnews for updates and more specials.

As I’ve said before, my nephew is getting married in July and we need new clothes to wear to the wedding. I got my dress purchased a few weeks ago and we were sort of thinking about waiting to start looking for my daughter’s dress just in case she has a growth spurt between now and then. However, I’ve changed my mind about waiting and I think we really need to take advantage of the clearance sales going on right now. The wedding is only 3 months away, how much can a 13 year old grow in 3 months?!
As luck would have it, Sears is currently having a phenomenal clearance sale with prices that are 75-80% off of original prices on most fall and winter clothing and the sale is going on from now until April 18th.
While I was checking out the Sears website, I found the cutest dress that I can’t wait to show my daughter. It has a beautiful sheer layer that is dotted with sequins, sparkly, but not tacky. The dress has little spaghetti straps and a tie in the back. I really love the color of this one, it’s called “wine”. As a mom, I really like the length, not too short, but still looks young, appropriate for a 13 year old. The picture is a little small, but what do you think?

I just hope my daughter likes it as much as I do.

We’re leaving on Sunday for a week in California and when we get back, we’ll be gearing up for one more softball tournament, the last of the fall season. Last week we froze our butts off at a tournament in 40 degree temperatures and high winds, so I want to make sure we have warmer coats and maybe even some long johns for this next tournament. Yes, even in Texas we have bone chilling weather!
I’m planning on going to the Sears Super Saturday Sale this Saturday, November 22. They open at 7 a.m. and the special deals only go until noon, but that’s all the time I need to get exactly what we need!
Here’s my plan of attack. Outerwear and sweaters for the entire family will be on sale that morning for 60% off, so I’ll load up on those items first. Maybe I can even find a cute little jacket for our grandbaby that we’ll be seeing on Sunday. Then, as a bonus, and because I’ve absolutely worn out my current vacuum, I’ll be heading over to buy the Kenmore Progressive vacuum. It will be on sale Saturday morning at its lowest price of the season for only $229.99, a savings of $70. Anyone who has a pet knows, you have to have a good vacuum, and this is what I need to pick up all the dog hair around here. I vacuum at least a couple times a week, so I need a good sturdy vacuum that can handle it.
These sales are one day only Doorbuster sales, so I will be there first thing in the morning to take advantage. There are no rain checks either, these prices are only good while supplies last, so it’s important to get there early. This works out well for me because I have a ton of other stuff to get done later in the day in preparation for our trip.
What will you be doing Saturday morning?
