Fly The Manta Ray

I hear about people taking wonderful vacations to Florida all the time. In fact, one of my closest friends just returned from a family vacation there last month AND, I even have a niece living in Florida. And yet, I haven’t been to Florida since 1979 and I can tell you, most of the amusement parks that exist today were not even a dream in 1979! I would so love to go back, especially have seeing this incredible new ride at SeaWorld.

Manta is the awesome new face down, head first, roller coaster ride at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida. Now, I’m not a thrill seeker by any stretch of the imagination, but this looks amazing! I just showed the demo to my 13 year old and her eyes got HUGE! She wants to go now too! Seriously, this is just a short clip, but doesn’t this look like it would be a blast?

Plus, right now, SeaWorld is having a contest and the prizes include a “Front of the Line” pass to ride Manta. Although, I don’t think standing in line would be too bad since while you’re waiting, you get to see all types of aquatic fish and animals in floor to ceiling aquariums. This ride is brand spanking new, just opened last month.

There are 6 steps to completing the contest, finish just 2 of them and you’ll get a free electronic photograph from your Manta ride experience at SeaWorld Orlando. Complete all 6 activities and get the “Front of the Line” pass. If you’re heading to Orlando, this Manta contest is definitely worth checking out!

Don’t You Just Love Dolphins and SeaWorld?

It has been many years since I’ve been to SeaWorld, but one of the things I’ve always remembered about visiting was seeing and admiring the dolphins. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been enamored with dolphins and their intelligence. In fact, did you know that dolphins are so intelligent that there are dolphins being used by the U.S. military? In fact, the U.S. Navy has used dolphins for almost 50 years to do several jobs, including delivering items to underwater personnel and finding objects that have been lost underwater.

Dolphins are such beautiful mammals and so enjoyable and graceful to watch.  They work hard when they need to, but are ever so playful with each other too, even blowing dolphin bubbles and that is what makes them so much fun.  It’s also a scientific fact that dolphins communicate with each other using sounds and this is indicative of their high level of intelligence.

Recently, dolphins were discovered blowing air bubble rings and then playing with them.  It really is fascinating to watch how these dolphins have apparently invented their own game and entertain themsevles with it.  Not only that, the game has caught on and other dolphins, after seeing what was taking place, decided to join in on the fun and now they all play together with the air bubble rings.  This is really cool to watch, you really should watch this video. These truly have to be some of the most intelligent mammals on planet Earth.

Dolphin Bubbles

Earlier in the week, we here in Dallas had temperatures in the low to mid 80’s. In fact, I was out trimming bushes just this past Sunday, sweating in the heat and just about ready to jump into our swimming pool for a refreshing dip. Tuesday night, everything changed. The winds changed direction bringing in buckets of rain and cold temperatures, and I mean in the 30’s! What I wouldn’t give for a nice vacation to Florida right now.

To make Florida even more enticing, I saw this video of the dolphins at Seaworld and I would be thrilled to go watch these Dolphin Bubbles in person. This is the same video that was seen recently on ABC’s World News with Charles Gibson, if you haven’t all ready seen it, you really have to watch this!

Dolphins really are an intelligent mammal and have developed a playful way to entertain themselves by blowing bubbles. These aren’t just any bubble, these are carefully blown bubbles that the dolphins then twirl, or toss, or play with before actually popping them. It’s truly amazing to watch and its an amazing behavior to observe. I’d love to hear if you’ve ever seen the Dolphin Bubbles in person and what you thought of it.
