Shopping for School Shoes

Shopping for School Shoes

I have to admit, shopping for school shoes during the back to school shopping season is one of my very favorite things to do. Part of the reason for this is simply because I love shoes, the other part is simply because I love shoes!Seriously, I’ve talked previously about shopping for shoes for my daughter for school and I really do feel it’s so important to not just get shoes, but get quality shoes. I started buying quality shoes from the time she was a baby and I continue to do it today as she’s entering junior high.

When my daughter first learned to stand as an infant, I wanted to make sure that she had good support in her shoes for her feet and ankles. I loved the little soft leather ankle boots with the non-slip soles. They were so soft to the touch and yet provided excellent support. The fun part was that with her feet growing so fast, I was always getting to shop for shoes.  I’m still getting to buy those cute little shoes, only now, it’s for my granddaughter and I really like the selection at Startrite shoes .

When my daughter entered pre-school and then kindergarten, I had to look at different types of shoes. She needed to have dress shoes, like those pictured above, for special occasions, but she really needed good quality sneakers for playing in, and the shoes had to be able to stand the wear and tear of playing on the playground. I wanted to make sure she was comfortable wearing them, and that they would stand up to every day wear. I bought her a great pair of childrens trainers that lasted her through the school year and into the summer before I had to buy her a new pair.

Of course, my daughter did inherit my love of shoes, and she definitely expresses her opinion when it comes to the shoes she likes. The one thing I know I have taught her is to look not only out the appearance of the shoe, but the construction of the shoe. Make sure that the shoe is comfortable when you try it on. She is definitely style conscious, but I want to make sure she knows that she doesn’t have to sacrifice fashion for fit.

If you’re trying to figure out the best style or fit for your own child, check out www.startriteshoes.com for their shoe shopping and fitting advice.  They offer some excellent tips and if you find something you like for your child, you can shop online, or, if you live in Europe, check for a store location near you.
