I’ve been busily checking out quite a few of the Cyber Monday deals today and, overall, I’ve been somewhat disappointed. That is, until I discovered the deals on watches at The Watchery, including a Movado watch for only $99! This deal is way too good to pass up!

What do you think of when you hear “Cartier”? Personally, I think of jewelry, diamonds, rubies, emeralds, gold, you name it, Cartier designs with it and it always turns into something beautiful. When my husband thinks of Cartier, he thinks immediately of watches.

If I won the lottery, I’d be purchasing this watch for my husband for our upcoming wedding anniversary. Isn’t it beautiful? I recently asked my husband how many watches he owned.  I was very surprised when he told me 12 or 13!  I thought he owned 4 or 5.  While they’re definitely not in the price range of the Cartier watches, they’re not inexpensive watches either.  He enjoys the antique watches and those with automatic movement.  He recently acquired a box that holds a watch and regularly rotates to keep the watch movements in action.  One of these days I hope to find a way for him to have all of his watches on display, they are all beautiful and deserve that.

How many watches do you own? I have one. If I’m wearing a watch, it’s on my arm. My husband on the other hand, has somewhere in the number of twelve watches and he wears each of them on various occasions. He is a watch collector. He doesn’t just collect any watch either, he has very high standards and preferences.

Now, I’m not saying he has Rolex watches or anything in that price range, but he does own some very beautiful watches. Some are antique and some are bought new. He prefers watches with automatic movement rather than a quartz movement. He also looks at the different functions of a watch such as whether or not it has a moon face or if it’s a chronograph. He prefers details such as breguet hands which are a more decorative hand.

A watch that would certainly meet his standards, except for the quartz movements, would be the Ebel Swiss watch. The Ebel company has been in existence since 1911 and has been recognized worldwide for its creativity and technical expertise. Considering that the watch making industry was predominantly male, especially in the 1900’s, having a woman as one of its two founders, was certainly unique for Ebel. Ebel continues to be a stand out in the world of watches today being one of the top 5 luxury watch brands in the world.

As for me?  I’ll be sticking to my one watch.  I’ve owned it now for 10 years and replaced the watch band only once.
