Dear Mother Nature…

Dear Mother Nature…

Dear Mother Nature,

Please make up your mind.  It seems of late you have many rather wishy washy and can’t seem to decide if it is Winter or, as the calendar states, Spring.  I don’t mind one way or the other, but I really am not enjoying the current pattern of radical changes on a day to day basis.  So please, I am begging you, make up your mind.

Thank you,

The Sewing Mom

Why am a complaining to Mother Nature?  Well, let’s see.  Last Friday, here in Dallas, we were enjoying beautiful sunshine with nice temperatures hovering around 70 F.  Of course, my daughter’s softball team was scheduled for a tournament Saturday and Sunday, so WHAM!  Mother Nature decided to show her fury and hit us first with very cold rain and temperatures in the low 40’s, combined with high sustained winds making it feel like it was in the 30’s.  Tournament canceled.  Then, as if that wasn’t bad enough, we got ready to go to bed on Saturday night and looked out the window to see this:

I thought for sure it would be gone by the time we woke up on Sunday, but instead, this is what we woke up to and it stuck around until late on Monday.

Now today it’s 75! Make up your mind!

From Snow to Sunshine – Enjoying the Weather!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of AccuWeather. All opinions are 100% mine.

Scroll down if you want to see the snowman I made just a couple of weeks ago, right in my own front yard. While my daughter and I had a lot of fun playing in the snow, we really did move to the south to get away from all that white stuff and I really don’t enjoy being cold. That’s probably why I’m enjoying this weeks weather so much more. It’s iin the 60’s and the sun is warming us all up. Before long we’ll be seeing the flowers in bloom and I can’t wait!

The weather lately has been so completely unpredictable! I don’t think that’s only the case in Dallas, but it seems to be true just about everywhere. Now that softball season is starting back up, I sort of like to be able to plan what I need to wear out to the fields. Do I need a coat or just a sweatshirt? Long sleeves or short? Will we get rained out or just a delay?

I’m downloading AccuWeather to my desktop so I can have immediate access to the local conditions. AccuWeather.com has that makes it so easy to find local weather conditions and forecasts. I can also find weather in other places so when we travel for vacations, etc., I can plan better. I like their new site because it’s just so easy to find what I’m looking for and I particularly like the 5-day forecasts that help me plan my week.

Consider checking out AccuWeather, I think you’ll like what you see!

Hurricane Ike Headed For Texas

Texas is under severe weather alerts and keeping a weather eye on Hurricane Ike, currently in the Gulf of Mexico.

Ike will more than likely make landfall sometime early Saturday morning and then move quickly north covering most of East Texas, including the Dallas area.  While Ike is expected to weaken to a tropical storm as it moves across land, but Dallas can expect 4-6 inches or more of rainful, gusty winds and toranadoes may develop.  We may expect sustained winds of anywhere from 30-50 mph.

Needless to say, we will be battening down the hatches and pulling in all of the patio furniture.  We are receiving direction to tie down or put away anything that is not permanently attached.  Right now, we are definitley experiencing the calm before the storm.
